Cellulose Acetate Butyrate (CAB-551-0.01) is a cellulose ester with high butyryl content and low viscosity, which significantly affects it solubility and compatibility.

CAB-551- 0.01 is soluble in styrene and methyl methacrylate monomers and will tolerate more aliphatic and aromatic hydrocarbon diluent than higher viscosity materials.

The solubility of CAB-551- 0.01 in alcohol/aromatic hydrocarbon mixtures offers an economic advantage and permits the choice of a wide range of solvents and solvent combinations. It also offers improved compatibility with various coating resins. CAB-551-0.01 is a dry, white free flowing powder convenient to handle.

Cellulose Acetate Butyrate(CAB) can serve as a binder for protective and decorative coatings on metals, wood, textiles, fabrics, paper, plastics, and leather. It is a widely used additive in the coatings industry.

CAB exhibits characteristics such as non-yellowing, flexibility, cold resistance, good color retention, excellent flow properties, resistance to hydrolysis, and high transparency. It significantly improves coating flow, eliminates film shrinkage, enhances solvent release, promotes pigment dispersion, improves adhesion, and increases coating hardness.

Remark:

1. Viscosity to be tested by Ubbelohde viscometer 0.24mm

2. Solution to test color and haze: 20% CAB 80% Ethyl Acetate .

3. To measure Color number by Pt-Co color scale, and to measure Haze by turbidimeter.

Based on our experience the shelf life of this product under above conditions is at least 2 years.

If it exceeds the 2-year shelf life, it can continue to be used after passing the test.
