In ink-related tests, KBS-6173 dispesing Additive demonstrates strong dispersing performance for carbon black. When dispersing pigment carbon black C311 in an alkyd resin (Sanmu 3880) cyclohexanone solvent system, the color paste prepared with KBS-6173 shows an initial fineness of 10 μm, good flowability, and remains stable in fineness without sedimentation after storage at 60°C for 7 days. In saturated polyester resin systems for dispersing medium- to high-pigment carbon black, our KBS-6173 is also one of the recommended options.

KBS-6173 is specifically recommended for use in the printing ink industry and is comparable to BYK-171 and BYK-2163. In solvent-based heavy-duty anti-corrosion coatings (such as epoxy and polyurethane systems), KBS-6173 is recommended as an alternative to EFKA 4063.

Key Features and Performance Advantages of Kabasph® KBS-6173

Excellent carbon black dispersion and color development: In black coatings based on various resin systems such as polyester and epoxy 128, 6173 demonstrates outstanding viscosity reduction and superior color development with high blackness ratings. When dispersing Transparent Red 3BL in a 965 resin system, its transparency is superior to that of EFKA 4310.
Excellent viscosity reduction: In tests on solvent-based industrial coatings (comparable to certain ink systems), KBS-6173 demonstrates outstanding viscosity reduction performance in black coatings based on various resin systems such as polyester and epoxy 128, comparable to BYK-163.
Enhanced coating performance: Although primarily derived from coating test data, it demonstrates excellent adhesion in baking systems (no clearcoat was lifted during tape pull tests). This property may also be an added advantage in ink applications requiring strong adhesion, such as certain specialty inks.
Good anti-settling performance: In overprint coatings based on polyester systems, KBS-6173 demonstrates good anti-settling properties.
