Dispersing Agent for Inorganic Pigments

Kabasph^® KBS-6110 is a wetting and dispersing agent specifically developed for solvent-based and solvent-free coatings, as well as printing inks. It is comparable to BYK110 in performance. Its primary function is to efficiently stabilize inorganic pigments, with particularly strong dispersing performance for titanium dioxide. The product is widely used in printing inks, industrial coatings, floor coatings, furniture paints, automotive OEM coatings, and automotive refinish paints. Thanks to its anionic character, KBS-6110 is also well suited for acid-catalyzed systems, such as coil coatings.

KBS-6110 dispersant is primarily used to disperse inorganic pigments such as titanium dioxide, transparent iron oxide yellow, and transparent iron oxide red. It exhibits excellent color development for inorganic and transparent iron oxide pigments in 1K color pastes for automotive refinish paints.

Our KBS-6110 dispersant deflocculates and stabilizes pigments through spatial steric resistance. The resulting small particle size of the deflocculated pigments helps prevent color floating and blooming in multi-pigment systems, which improves gloss, color strength, transparency, and hiding power.

In addition, the additive significantly reduces viscosity, thereby enhancing flow and allowing for higher pigment loadings. When used in electrostatic high-speed spin coating applications with inorganic pigments, it also effectively minimizes haze.

Features and Benefits:

Excellent Gloss Performance: In the epoxy 601 resin white paint system, KBS-6110 delivers the best gloss performance. In the 2K white paint test for automotive coatings, it achieves a 60° gloss of 87.8.

Excellent Anti-Settling and Color Stability: In epoxy floor coatings, KBS-6110 provides good binder wetting, anti-settling properties, and color stability. In tests with medium chrome yellow, KBS-6110 showed no sedimentation across various acrylic resin systems.

Broad Applicability for Inorganic Pigments: It is recommended to disperse inorganic pigments such as titanium dioxide (R996), transparent iron oxide yellow (BTY101WH), and transparent iron oxide red (L2817). It delivers excellent color development for inorganic and transparent iron oxide pigments in 1K color pastes for automotive refinish paints.

Good System Compatibility and Versatility: Suitable for a wide range of solvent-based systems, including epoxy, hydroxy acrylic, thermoplastic acrylic, alkyd, polyester, and polyketone resins.
